The 2026 HAVAL H9 is a traditional body-on-frame, five-door SUV in the mid-to-large class, measuring about 5,070 mm long. It uses a front-mounted engine with part-time four-wheel drive and is certified to China National VI emissions. It is aimed at buyers who want a rugged ladder-frame vehicle with genuine off-road hardware and family-sized space, at a price point below established Japanese rivals.

Engines and Trims

Two powertrains are offered. The 2.0L turbo petrol four-cylinder produces 224 hp and 385 Nm and is paired with an 8-speed automatic. The 2.4L turbo diesel four-cylinder makes 186 hp and 490 Nm and drives through a 9-speed automatic.

Petrol versions come as the Explorer, Expansion, Extreme and Power Editions. Diesel versions come as the Expansion, Extreme and Power Editions. Expansion and Extreme are available in 5- or 7-seat layouts, while Explorer and Power are 5-seaters. The Power Editions launched in August 2026; the other trims arrived in April 2026.

The ladder frame and part-time 4WD suit rough roads, towing and remote-area use, which matters to fleet and rural buyers. The diesel's 490 Nm of torque is well suited to load-carrying and long-distance work, and the choice of fuel lets importers match local fuel availability and pricing.
