Overview
The GAC Empow R, sold in China as the Trumpchi Shadow Leopard, is a compact four-door sedan with a sporting bias. In 270T R-Style form it uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 177 PS and 270 Nm, sent to the front wheels through a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox. Quoted figures are 0-100 km/h in 6.95 s and WLTC consumption of 5.96 L/100 km.
That combination is the main trade-off to weigh. Buyers get quicker acceleration than most family sedans at this size, while fuel use stays close to that of mainstream 1.5-litre cars. The 47 L tank gives a usable range for commuting and intercity driving.
