Question 1

What taxes and duties apply when importing a car to Venezuela?

Accepted Answer

Venezuela levies customs duty, VAT, and excise taxes on imported vehicles based on the declared FOB value and vehicle specifications. Duty rates and VAT are calculated on the import value, and luxury or high-displacement vehicles may face surcharges. The total customs cost is typically substantial and should be confirmed with a Venezuelan customs broker before purchase, as rates can change.

Question 2

What documents do I need to import a car from Dubai to Venezuela?

Accepted Answer

The buyer must provide proof of purchase, passport, and a Venezuelan national ID or tax identification number to Beyond Autos. Upon shipment, the vehicle arrives with a bill of lading and factory documentation. For Venezuelan customs clearance, a licensed customs broker typically handles submission of the import declaration, proof of payment of duties and taxes, and vehicle registration forms to complete the import.

Question 3

What paperwork arrives with my car when it reaches Venezuela?

Accepted Answer

The vehicle arrives with the factory certificate of origin, bill of lading, and technical specifications. These documents, combined with your proof of purchase from Beyond Autos, form the basis for Venezuelan customs clearance and vehicle registration. Your customs broker will use these to file the import declaration and obtain the necessary permits for local registration and issuance of Venezuelan number plates.

Question 4

What is the process for importing a new car from Dubai to Venezuela?

Accepted Answer

Buyers purchase a vehicle from Beyond Autos FOB Jebel Ali, with a buyer-appointed forwarder shipping it, or CIF to Puerto Cabello or La Guaira, with Beyond Autos booking the ocean freight and insurance; the process typically takes 60–90 days. Upon arrival, the buyer clears customs, pays applicable duties and taxes, registers the vehicle with Venezuelan authorities, and obtains local plates before taking delivery. The entire process requires coordination with a local customs broker and compliance with Venezuelan vehicle import regulations.

Question 5

Are there age restrictions on importing cars into Venezuela?

Accepted Answer

Venezuela does not enforce a strict blanket age limit on imported vehicles, but regulations may vary by region and local authorities. However, imported vehicles must meet Venezuelan emissions and safety standards, and vehicles significantly older than five years may face additional scrutiny or higher duties. Buyers should verify current requirements with a Venezuelan customs broker or the relevant transport authority before purchasing.

Question 6

Can I import a right-hand drive car to Venezuela?

Accepted Answer

Venezuela requires imported vehicles to have left-hand drive steering to comply with local traffic regulations and safety standards. Right-hand drive vehicles are generally not permitted for road use. Beyond Autos supplies left-hand drive vehicles suitable for Venezuelan import, ensuring compliance with this requirement.

Question 7

How long does it take to ship a car from Dubai to Venezuela?

Accepted Answer

Transit from Jebel Ali to Puerto Cabello or La Guaira typically ranges from 60 to 90 days depending on vessel routing and port conditions. Buyers should factor in additional time for customs clearance and documentation processing once the vehicle arrives. Seasonal weather patterns in the Caribbean can occasionally affect scheduling, so shipping should be booked with adequate lead time.
